Math Pentathlon
Congratulations to our Mathletes for their hard work and dedication to the Math Pentathlon program! So proud of our students for being respectful, responsible, and kind. In addition to working hard to learn the games, they also made a point to be good sports and to play by the rules! It was a great night of family support and math fun. Many thanks to Mrs. Powers, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Farnum, Mrs. Ajemeian, and Mrs. Miller for leading the way for our Mathletes this year. Also, many thanks to our parent community for volunteering and supporting their students throughout the season and at this event. Great teamwork everyone.

Author Visit--Bryan Chick
The students enjoyed a wonderful visit from Bryan Chick, author of The Secret Zoo series. Mr. Chick shared his unique experience of the The Secret Zoo, how his ideas were inspired, and how he formulated his stories. He encouraged our Bobcats to use their imagination in their writing. He shared how no writer ever gets it right the first time! Mrs. Papciak is still accepting orders for signed books. Forms must be turned in by Tuesday.

Tall Tales Assembly
Johnny Appleseed, Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox - famous names from some of the tallest tales. However there are even more legends to explore and enjoy! Our Bobcats enjoyed a presentation of the Missoula Theater Group as they learned about some of the humbler heroes from North American history. From the mighty swings of John Henry to the bravery and daring of Molly Pitcher and Kate Shelly - these accounts delighted our Bobcats in their exaggerations as well as helped them discover the truth behind these tall tales. Thank you to Mrs. LaPratt for bringing this engaging performance to our school.
District Parent Council Updates
Mrs. Angela Willis, one of our District Parent Council Representatives shared the following information from the meeting on March 15:
- The state of Michigan has a new initiative for our state to become one of the top 10 in the nation for education. Huron Valley Schools is already compliant with many of the initiatives given by the state and is putting plans in place to hit the other goals which have been set.
- Transition update: The COAT team and School Board will continue to provide transition support to all Brooks families as well as the three receiving schools. Special thanks to the Brooks staff who are doing a great job of helping our kids.
- Junior Kindergarten: there has been a good response to the new junior kindergarten program. Administration plans to have three or four classes throughout the district. Locations are still being determined.
- Presentation on opportunities for High School Students: There was a review of all of the opportunities for HS students to earn college credit or receive vocational training.
- May 23rd will be another Pizza fundraiser for Huron Valley Education Fund.
