Reminder--Friday, January 20 is a Half-Day of School
Friday is a half-day of school for students. Students will be dismissed at 12:43 pm. Students will be eating lunch in their classrooms, so please remember to send a peanut-free lunch with your child on Friday. All classrooms and shared learning spaces are peanut free at Brooks. Thank you for your continued efforts to keep all of our Bobcats safe.
Brooks Proud Assembly
Our fifth grade students did a great job sharing the message of our refreshed Positive Behavior Support plan for our Brooks Bobcats. Throughout the school, you can hear our students talking about doing things the "Brooks Proud" way, thanks to the inspiring performance of our Brooks Proud Fairy during the assembly. Mr. Burke guided our fifth graders in preparing and acting out scenarios for being a Positive Role Model, having Responsible Actions, being an Outstanding Student, Using Safety Rules, and Demonstrating Respect. Be sure to check out the Brooks P.R.O.U.D. Wall of Fame on your next visit to the school
A World in Motion--AWIM
On Monday, January 10, Mr. William Grant shared information about "A World In Motion (AWIM)" with the Huron Valley Board of Education. Mr. Grant, a proud father of two Bobcats and General Motors employee, brought the AWIM program to our first grade students. This spring, we plan to expand the AWIM program to all students in kindergarten, first, and second grade. The AWIM program is:
•A teacher administered, industry volunteer-assisted program which brings Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to life in the classroom
•It is a STEM curriculum benchmarked to national standards
•AWIM promotes critical thinking, communication, teamwork, collaboration, science, and mathematics literacy
•Joins together teachers, students, and volunteers in an exploration of physical science in the classroom
For more information on the AWIM program, please check out their website here.
