Holiday Art and Music Show at Lakeland High School
Our Brooks Bobcats did an amazing job sharing their talents at the First Annual Holiday with the Arts event at Lakeland High School. Our fourth graders did a fantastic job singing. Our Bobcats also shared their beautiful art work. Thank you to our fine arts teachers, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Fortsom, Ms. Jakrzewski, and Mrs. LaPratt.
Huron Valley Education Foundation Grants
As shared in November, congratulations to Mrs. Fouty and Ms. Meyers for receiving a Huron Valley Education Foundation grant to provide non-fiction books for their students. Mrs. Powers, Mrs. Even, Mrs. Farnum, Mrs. Kelly, and Mrs. Miller were also the recipients of a grant to receive the word study program Words Their Way for their kindergarten and first grade students!

Thank you BPTO and Brooks Families
Thank you so very much to the Brooks PTO for organizing a wonderful bagel breakfast and cookie walk for all staff on the Wednesday before break. We thank all families for making such delicious treats for us to share with our families! We truly appreciate your time and thoughtfulness.
Math Pentathlon Begins Monday, January 9
Math Pentathlon is back! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to continue to grow and learn math skills.
Also, please consider sending in snacks for the group. Remember all classrooms and shared learning spaces are peanut free, so all snacks will need to be peanut free. Juice boxes, fruit snacks, goldfish, etc. would be great snacks. Thank you.
- All grades will begin Monday, January 9th from 4-5pm. Only those who have turned in permission slips will be allowed to stay after school.
- K-1 students will meet in Mrs. Miller's room
- 2-3 students will meet in the Library
- 4-5 students will meet in the art room

January Board of Education Meeting--Monday, January 9
The first Board of Education meeting for the new year will be held at Lakeland High School on Monday, January 9. The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm in the LGI room located just to the right after entering the front doors of the school. New board members will begin serving their terms at this meeting.
BPTO Meeting--Wednesday, January 11

Huron Valley MLK Day Celebration Information and Reminder of No School on Monday, January 16.
HV MLK Day is an annual celebration providing opportunities to serve the community, while celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a continuing effort to realize his dream as ours. To enter in the HV MLK Day contest, please visit http://www.hvmlkday.org/.

January 20, February 17, and March 10--Half Days of School
Friday, January 20 is our next half-day of school for students. Students will be dismissed at 12:43 pm. Lunch will be served and students will eat in the classrooms. Please remember all classrooms and shared learning spaces are peanut free, so all students will need to have a peanut free lunch for all half-days. Teachers will have professional learning in the afternoon.
