Thanks to Mr. Philip Wahtola and out BPTO for planning and organizing the Monster Mash again this year. It was an amazing event. Thank you to all teachers and staff, family members, former students, and the National Honor Society students for volunteering to make this event so much fun for everyone! Canned Food Drive Contest--Pack 42
Please help our Cub Scout Pack 42 fight hunger in our community this year. They are collecting canned/non-perishable food for Community Sharing at Apollo. Collection boxes are located in each classroom. The canned food Drive will continue through Thursday, October 10. The class collecting the most food wins their choice of a pizza party or bagel party. Thank you for supporting our community.
October Students of the Month
Congratulations to our most respectful and responsible students for the month of October. Thank you for being role models for all students at Brooks. #brooksproud
Caring Community and HVS Bully Policy
Brooks is a Caring Community. For the month of October, our whole school read aloud was The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Grade by Justin Roberts. Mrs. Bjorkman read this book to each class (will finish with fourth and fifth this upcoming week) and discussed how one small act can make our school a better place. Mrs. Hojnacki's students challenged each other to make one small change to make our school an even better place. October was bully prevention month. Please click here to read the HVS policy on bullying. This document can also be found on our Brooks website in the Parent Resource section under Important Documents. Please let me know what questions you have.
Halloween Parade and Parties
We enjoyed a festive Halloween at Brooks this year. Students enjoyed classroom parties and a whole school parade. Our kindergarten students made creative paper mache masks, which they modeled for the entire school.
What is Title I?
Title I is a federal program which provides funding to local school districts with high percentages of children from low income families to support the academic achievement of any students performing below grade level Huron Valley Schools' Title I funds are distributed to the elementary schools with the highest free and reduced lunch percentage within the District. This allows them to provide supplemental support and learning opportunities to help low-achieving children master the State's challenging content standards in core academic subjects. All teachers and para-educators in Title I schools must meet requirements to be "highly qualified." We recently sent a letter home with this information.
