Fun Run
The Crazy Color Run for fun was a blast! The kids enjoyed running and walking to the music. We raised over $6,000 for our school! Thank you so much to our BPTO for planning and sponsoring this event. Thank you to all our families for donating time, money, and energy to supporting our School. Way to go Team Brooks!
Author Visit--Boo Excitement!
The students enjoyed meeting Kendra Montante last week. She shared her new book, Booing: A Halloween Tradition with all classes. She even "Booed" one of our classes! Some classrooms are being very sneaky and "Booing" other classrooms. Be sure to ask your children about this awesome author visit!
White Lake Fire Fighters Visit
Our kindergarten through third grade students enjoyed a visit from the White Lake Fire Fighters. They children were engaged with the newly created interactive program the Fire Fighters created. They also enjoyed seeing the fire truck and watching the hose spray. Thank you to our local heroes for teaching us how to stay safe.

Unity Day--Wednesday, October 21--Wear Orange
Wednesday, October 21 is Unity Day. This is a day we use as a reminder to 'Unite" to prevent bullying. Please remind your children to wear orange on Wednesday!
Apple Crunch Day--Thursday, October 22
If you have not already heard, October 22nd is the Michigan Apple Crunch Day. We will all be curnching apples at Brooks, thanks to the generous donation of apples from Mrs. Ajemian.

Parent Teacher Conferences--October 22 and October 28
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 28. If you still need to schedule a conference, please contact your child's teacher. We look forward to meeting with you and sharing your child's action plan for the year. Thanks for taking such an active role in your child's education and being a part of our team.

Recess Monitors--We need you!
We are still in need of additional recess and sub-recess monitors. We have some flexibility with which days will work with your schedule. Please consider working just a couple days! You can enjoy some fresh air and fun times with our Bobcats each day!

The 2015-16 Brooks Elementary WATCH D.O.G.S. program is up and running. We had an excellent turnout at the kickoff meeting last week and there are 27 days filled for the year already! Thank you to Mrs. Bjorkman for a wonderful job leading the meeting, all those who attended, and the D.O.G.S. who are devoting their time to provide the students with a positive influence and safe school environment at Brooks. Blessings in a Backpack--Ribbon Cutting
The Huron Valley Optimist Club celebrated the start of the Blessings in a Backpack program at Brooks Elementary with a ribbon cutting ceremony last week. Many members of the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce, White Lake Township, Milford Township, Huron Valley Schools, and Brooks Community came out to celebrate with us. Many thanks to our hard working Blessings in a Backpack volunteers including Julie Hass, Pam Barkholtz, Kim Landry, Spencer Landry, Lindsay Cotter, Nicole Slating, Kale Slating, Anna Howard, Emilee Bowen, Lilly Bowen, and many Huron Valley Optimists! We truly appreciate all you do to make this program a success!
