Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
We will be following the same traffic pattern for arrival and dismissal this year. Here are some reminders:
- If you are parking and walking your child into the building, please use the cross walk near the office doors. Please do not walk between the cars in the traffic loop.
- Students can only be dropped off and picked up in the area from the mailbox to the end of the sidewalk. This area has yellow paint on the curb to highlight the loading and unloading zones.
- Students should enter and exit from the passenger side of the car.
- Teachers and staff will be out front supporting drop off and pick up procedures.
- Please be patient with this process as we ensure the safety of all of our students each drop off and pick up daily.

Title I Information
Brooks Elementary is a Title I School. This year we will be going through the process of transitioning to what is called a Title I Schoolwide program. This will entail lots of exploration of our current programming, data analysis, and gathering perception information from all stakeholders. We will need parent involvement in throughout the process. If you are interested in working with and providing support to our team, please let Mrs. Bjorkman know. We are excited to dig into our data, learn all about our community perceptions, and determine what else we can do to support our students at Brooks.
Brooks Parent Teahcer Organization (BPTO) Info
Get to know the Brooks BPTO by attending the first meeting on Wednesday, September 16 at 9:15 am. All are welcome for coffee and donuts at this "Get to Know Your BPTO" meeting.
The Brooks BPTO does so much to support our students, staff, and families each year. We would love to welcome many new members to our team.

Blessings in a Backpack is Coming to Brooks
We are pleased to announce the initiation of the Blessings in a Backpack program in Huron Valley. In January of this year, the Huron Valley Optimists Club created a steering committee in hopes of installing the Blessings in a Backpack program in Huron Valley Schools. Through the generous donations of businesses, community organizations and concerned community members that committee has received the $12,000 necessary to fund Brooks Elementary school’s students for the 2015-2016 school year!
Blessings in a Backpack is a national program that provides food for children that qualify for free or reduced price lunch programs. The children are given a backpack of food each Friday that includes six meals, allowing them to eat nutritious meals through the weekend. These meals continue to be provided each weekend throughout the school year. Studies have found that children that benefit from this program have increased test scores, better attendance and decreased
The food for the meals is provided by Meijer in partnership with the North Woodward Community Foundation. One child can be fed throughout the school year for $100.00. Currently in, Huron Valley Schools, over 2,800 children qualify for this program. Obviously, the Blessing in a Backpack - Huron Valley program needs your help to reach our goal of fully funding the schools. We are currently working towards collecting funds so that every elementary, middle and high school in Huron Valley has a Blessings in a Backpack program available to their students in need.
To learn more about Blessings in a Backpack and donate to the Huron Valley program please visit www.blessingsinabackpackmi.org. Be sure that you earmark your donation for Huron Valley. Steering Committee meetings are the first Thursday of each month, the public is welcome.
